This place is modest in size, but not in ambition. Its long menu features homey and uncommon dishes from the northern Chinese city of its name and owners, as well as many of the familiar Cantonese and Szechuan dishes available all over town. The stir-fries are well-prepared, but take a chance on some of the Beijing specials, including firm house-made noodles, unusual potato dishes, and one of the several meatball preparations. The Beijing dim sum items are especially good. Several dishes that sound like they might be vegetarian aren't, such as the fennel dumplings (stuffed with pork) and house special eggplant (studded with shrimp).
