Following a premiere event that featured the Roots' ?uestlove behind the decks, "Sounds of the Basement" returns with DJ Muggs . The Los Angeles mixmaster and producer is best known as one-third of blunted hip hop warriors Cypress Hill, though he's made forays into solo work in the past few years. Most recently, Muggs has hopped on the mash-up train, through both the mix-tape circuit and his own syndicated radio show, Mash-Up Radio. Be prepared for Muggs to throw anything into the mix, including his original mash-ups of artists such as Westside Connection and Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jay-Z, and even John Lennon with Fahrenheit 9/11's Michael Moore. The Jah Warrior Shelter collective (Jah Yzer, I-Vier, I-Lexis, and Irie Dole) will satisfy the Rasta-inclined, while the Triple Threat DJs (Shortkut, Apollo, and Vinroc) will intimidate any amateur turntablists in the house. Get insane in the membrane on Saturday, May 7, at Club Six; call 863-1221 or visit www.clubsix1.com for more info.
