Get "crunk" with DJs who love risqué content as much as they do booming bass

Producer Li'l Jon gets Usher crunk'd with the current pop hit "Yeah!" But local monthly club night "Whoride!" promises something even stranger than the smooth R&B singer adopting the dirty party-funk of his fellow Atlantan: crunk-dified house music. Before you shudder, though, understand that this club doesn't promise a mean hybrid of disco beats and the drunk, thuggish shouting of crunk, but merely DJs with a combined love of booming bass and slightly risqué content, which ultimately adds up to fun for those with loose booties (and looser morals). "Whoride!" with DJs Tycho, Bam, Joey Rego, and special guests takes place on Saturday, April 3 (and every first Saturday of the month), from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Sublounge, 628 20th St. (at Third Street), S.F. Tickets are $5, ladies free before 11 p.m.; call 552-3603 or go to www.sublounge.com.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
