San Francisco production company Ankh Marketing has brought top-quality soul and hip-hop DJ events and live concerts to the city for the past seven years, often in support of local sociopolitical causes, and celebrates its birthday this week with a double-header of special club gigs. Soul siren Erykah Badu has been spinning tunes in public since December, and will slip into her alias, DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown, to curate a playlist of rap and funk from a collection of obscurities and anthems. Meanwhile Questlove, the iconically Afro'd drummer in the Roots, will add to the festivities with an appearance behind the DJ decks.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
