It's the perennial question of the young artist: How do I get my work shown on walls that I do not already own? One option is to bring your paintings directly into a gallery. If they're excellent, do that. But as excellence in art is usually established by one's peers and a few well-regarded experts, attending Hang Me: The Artist Workshop might be the better bet. Learn tips like how to make a good portfolio and Web site and the proper ways to approach galleries and cafes. The panel includes David DeRosa, a local "pop impressionist" who has employed such guerilla tactics as setting up solo in front of a Tulsa mall, and Thérèse F. Martin, executive director of ArtSpan, a local art nonprofit.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
