1977 TOUR with special guests The Hooks

Ash returns to the Independent in SF on September 22nd to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their #1 Debut Album – 1977. Originally released in May 1996 in the UK and the following year in the US, the album – which featured hit singles “Girl From Mars,” “Goldfinger,” and “Kung Fu,” – was one of the two released by the band to be certified platinum. In addition, 1977 was ranked #417 in NME’s Top 500 Albums of All Time. The band will be playing the album in its entirety and said, “Some of these songs have grown with us throughout those years; others have the ability to transport us mentally and emotionally back to that crazy formative year of 1995 to 1996. These gigs are going to be a trip, trip, trip!” In addition to the anniversary shows, the band is releasing Live On Mars: London Astoria 1997 – an 18-track set recorded over the band’s five night run at the London Astoria that same year. The live album will be available at all the upcoming 1977 anniversary shows.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
