Join us for a conversation between world class conductor and Bay Area native Kent Nagano and San Francisco Chronicle Classical Music Critic Joshua Kosman. Mr. Nagano’s first book, Classical Music: Expect the Unexpected, was published in February of 2019. Mr. Nagano is currently Music Director of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and General Music Director of the Staatsoper Hamburg. In 2006, he was appointed Honorary Conductor of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He was Music Director of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra from 1978-2008. Mr. Kosman covers classical music for the San Francisco Chronicle. A book sale and signing follows the program.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
