All in the Family

Wednesday, Sep 12 2012
Busy parents hardly get the time to step out or kick-back during the whirwind of childrearing. For those strapped on time, energy, and resources, the Yerba Buena Arts District is your social salvation. Enjoy a daylong block party in downtown San Francisco with complimentary admission to five of the city's leading cultural institutions. SFMOMA, Contemporary Jewish Museum, Museum of the African Diaspora, Children’s Creativity Museum, and the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival welcome families to a day of free arts and crafts, screenings, workshops, and live performances. Among the exciting, hands-on, and kid-friendly activities at this year’s Yerba Buena Family Day are opportunities to create abstract chalk art, experiment with stop-motion film, finger paint, and take wildly transformative photos of friends and family. The event also features a performance by Latin Jazz phenomenon, Eddie Palmieri. The Yerba Buena Family Day is a parent-ready party in one convenient and easily accessible location.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
