There's something refreshingly indelicate about the new burlesque movement. Accordingly, the Hubba Hubba Revue Holiday Spectacular revels in nervy sex appeal while giving the finger to coy striptease mystique. Sure, it has all the coquettish clothes-peeling and peekaboo cuteness, but the revue's founders, Creepshow Peepshow entertainer Kingfish and neo-burlesque luminary Eddie Dane, offer enough vulgarian humor to please everyone. Known as the city's most over-the-top variety burlesque revue, the show is replete with pop-culture fun-poking, bare-fleshed, tassel-twirling showgirls (and guys), plenty of off-color banter, and no affectations of propriety whatsoever. The crew includes the saucy cabaret wenches of Twilight Vixen Revue, the "trap-tease" aerial babes of Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, and the vintage circus maneuvers of SF Boylesque. With all the bawdy humor and scrumptious eye candy, it's equal parts Monty Python and Dita von Teese. Add a little booze and misletoe, and the celebration is complete.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
