A love That Lasts

Wednesday, Nov 20 2013

If there is any myth that has wended its way down in Western thought with great fidelity, it's the story of a mate that fits as neatly as a rib into a sternum. Whether we, as Aristophanes surmised, were once quadruped spheres rolling in the contentment of unity before being cruelly bisected by gods who were jealous of our intense satisfaction, or are simply animals wishing to keep our mates for a lifetime like gibbons, vultures, and even wolves, we want to believe that somewhere in the world there is the one other person who completes us. Printz Dance Project presents Soul+Mates, an evening of dance, film, and photography centered on the subject of eternal love, with choreography by Stacey Printz, set design by Sean Riley, photography by Andre Hermann, film by Teresa Brazen, lighting by David Szlasa, and original music by Kraddy.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
