The Gang's All Here

Peanuts creator Charles Schulz died 15 years ago, but Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and other characters from the comic strip are living on in various media. Kids enjoy the gang’s adventures on a child’s level; adults relate to Charlie Brown as the personification of insecurity and failure. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas remains a seasonal favorite. Charlie Brown’s attempt to revive the holiday spirit with a sad-looking, undersized tree is a scene for the time capsule, and a live version of the show has returned to the San Francisco Symphony stage. A Charlie Brown Christmas — Live includes theatrics, song and dance, animated backgrounds, and the symphony and chorus performing Vince Guaraldi’s famed jazzy score. Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in the animated movie The Little Mermaid, is aboard this year, singing holiday songs.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
