Hear This: Eddy Jennings Benefit at the Regency Ballroom
The I-Beam was a special place on Haight Street that featured a veritable who's who of local, regional, and national talent for many years. What opened as a gay dance club in the Haight-Ashbury District became one of the greatest venues for some of the biggest names including (but certainly not limited to) Faith No More, Primus, Soundgarden, Butthole Surfers, Curve, Social Distortion, Victims Family, The Jesus Lizard, and countless others. Eddy Jennings was one of two very important talent buyers (which also included Anita Rivas) who enriched many San Franciscans' lives as well as the countless folks who journeyed to the historic club. This is a benefit show to help Jennings with his battle against cancer, and it seems nearly every important local act from his booking heyday has joined the party. Whether you're a fan of Jennings for his contributions or simply the bands, show up en masse for one special night of great music.
