    EnvironMANtal Movement

Take the Toyota Prius: It’s obviously driven by pansies with too much money and not enough sense to know that any car worth its steel and glass should go fast. Or how about those people in Berkeley who make biodiesel…

    Home Life in Hell

World-weary skeptics might be tempted to pass on Iciar Bollain's Take My Eyes the moment they learn its heroine is yet another victim of domestic violence. But that would be a mistake. The brilliant Spanish filmmaker who directed and co-wrote…

    Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

For reasons I doubt anyone can explain, the acting in this show seems to be split down the middle of the stage. As long as the action stays on the right -- in the band room where Ma Rainey's session…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
