    Headbangers' Ball

Teenage mutants. Vengeful transsexuals. Zombie stoners. Shameless porn stars. Grindhouse legends. Takashi Miike. If there’s one bash on the crammed Bay Area movie calendar that truly needs no explication, it’s the Another Hole In the Head Film Festival. Dedicated to…

    In Cold Blood

Horror flicks account for most of the cheap, nasty fun provided by the annual bad-taste film frenzy known as Another Hole in the Head, and it’s no wonder. The genre attracts filmmakers with scant cash but a surfeit of scuzzy…

    Blood Money

’Tis the month of All Hallows Eve, when things go bump in the night. The chills and thrills started a bit early this year, or perhaps you’ve been avoiding the financial — and front — pages. If there’s a silver…

    You and Your Fantasies

If you're more of a film buff than a Trekkie (or if the hard-core comic-book crowd makes you a little queasy), you can get your fill of fantasy flicks in the varsity leagues rather than among the maladjusted at Dead…

    This Week's Day-by-Day Picks

Wednesday, August 4, 2004 Real goths hate to be called goth. "Person in black," "darkwave/ industrial music fan," or "vampire" are all preferable to the dreaded g-word. So don't call "Dark Sparkle" a goth club, as we just did. Like…

    Twist Then Shout

With audiences numbed by years of cinematic sludge 'n' sleaze, it's hard to imagine too many films slapping slumbering moviegoers awake, but "Three Twisted Premieres by Notorious Outlaw Filmmakers" should do the trick. The "outlaw" cliché is appropriate, for once,…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
