    Tap Tap Tap

Dancers aren’t known for their smarts. Don’t shoot the messenger, it’s just a reality. Besides, who needs to be all brainy when you know how to move? The thing is, when a dancer is intelligent, society runs the risk of…

    Tap In

Tap dance, probably because of the shoes, is often unfairly pigeonholed as one of the fringe forms of dance. True, we see why some may consider it the mime of theater or Hacky Sack of the circus arts, and we…

    Foot Notes

Savion Glover, while undeniably brilliant, is also a rather perverse performer. In Foot Notes, his touring tap concert with fellow dancers Dianne Walker, the legendary Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown (who was indisposed on opening night), and the 11-year-old prodigy Cartier…

    Siamese Dream

Trying to cover the full range of Broadway theater in a mere three days is clearly impossible. Especially this season, which offers a smorgasbord of the old and the new: sturdy revivals (The King and I, A Funny Thing Happened…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
