    Best Cheap, Healthy Fast Food

Best Cheap, Healthy Fast Food The city's smallest fast-food chain is also its most wholesome, with fresh fruits and vegetables the common currency and grilling, not frying, the kitchencraft of choice. Sound ... uninspiring? Think again, burger boy! Asqew specializes…

    Best Vinyl Snobs

This joint is a crate-digger's dream, the real deal: It only sells records. No tapes, no CDs. Even the obscure location -- tucked away on 21st, just off of Mission -- feels like insider information. But the scruffy dudes at…

    Best Pig

Best Pig This small corner restaurant is deceptively modest: Formica tables, linoleum floors, white-painted walls. The only attempt at décor is a few pieces of folkloric Mexican dress casually nailed to the walls and a couple of red stripes painted…

    Best Fried Chicken

Best Fried Chicken We love fried chicken both in its high form (a crisp breast at Chez Panisse) and its low (an order of the extra-spicy from Popeye's with a side of red beans and rice). But the best fried…

    Best Brunch

    Best Kaddo

Sure, we could have given these guys best banjan (sautéed eggplant), best aushak (Afghan ravioli), or best aush (beef/yogurt/noodle soup). And don't even get us started on the chowpan (rack of lamb) or any of the other lamb dishes at…

Best Six Blocks of Liquor Stores

A liquor store can be more than a store that sells liquor, and when there is one, or more than one, at every cross street, it had better be -- if it wants to survive. Hence this liquor store-abundant stretch…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
