Massawa Ethiopian Arrives In North Beach

We briefly interrupt the 24-hour turkey-and-pumpkin-pie coverage to discuss okra. And injera. And a newly reopened, relocated Ethiopian restaurant in the San Francisco neighborhood where you'd least expect to find one. Formerly in the Upper Haight, Massawais now in North…

Hot Dogs Get Crazy at Bradley’s Funky Franks

A hot dog should stick with ketchup and mustard, relish being the absolute maximum topping, right? Oh, but times are changing. We don't do a double-take at magma lava explosion sushi rolls or peanut butter, jelly, and sardine-topped elk burgers.…

    Mac 'N' Cheese Pizza Exists!

It sounds straight out of the Fried-Starbucks-and-Twinkies Minnesota State Fair, or from some wow-factor listicle mentioning crazy culinary ideas that your boss catches you reading: mac 'n' cheese pizza. It is a thing that exists. While it sounds like total schwasted college drunk food,…

    Wanna-E: a Mandalay Food Truck

Most dishes served by the Wanna-E Mandalay food truck appear completely unfinished, a little like the infamous avant-garde "cake batter" dessert by Kaley Laird at Union Square's Aveline. Everything is compartmentalized and not brought together yet. Patience required. The fun ensues as…

Traci Des Jardins Expands in the Presidio

Take The Cable Car to Terminus for a Deviled Egg Sandwich

At the terminus of the California Street cable car line you'll find the aaptly named Café Terminus — an interesting hybrid café-bar case study that caters to the overworked and hungry types. It serves as a breakfast and lunch canteen…

    New Brews in Pacifica

As if we need more proof that the craft beer movement is sweeping through the Bay Area, now one of the most remote areas of the Peninsula has a brewery. The 6-month-old Devil's Slide Taproom in Pacifica's Pedro Point Shopping…

Early to Rise, Early to El Huarache Loco

Away from the seagulls and tourist-driven-organic-local-seasonal-sustainable-hubbub that is the Saturday morning Ferry Plaza Farmers Market at the Ferry Building, there is another farmers market going on. At the Alemany Farmers Market, also known these days as "The People's Market," you…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
