What’s in a zip code? Melek Zertal’s early spring exhibition is an intimate documentation of just what can happen in a few square blocks. The Algerian artist’s half-year sojourn in the East Bay will culminate in this series of prints and comics recreating what the artist calls “a sour sweet promenade through Oakland streets.” The intertwining of feeling and place is a specialty of Zertal’s work, which conveys intimate moments of love and distraction in a few strokes of ink and gouache. Screenprints, comics and other multimedia work on view until April 29th.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
