Wars haven't been fought over them the way they have over pepper and cinnamon, but few things unite ordinary joes with the snootiest fancy-pantses like bacon and beer. Having sold out previous events twice last year, the Bacon and Beer Classic returns to Levi's Stadium this Saturday, Feb. 27, bringing some 20 restaurants and 50 breweries from around Northern California and beyond.

We're pretty crazy for food festivals around here, and this one's bigger than almost all the rest. Look for microbrewery powerhouses like Anchor, Ballast Point, 21st Amendment, and Lagunitas, Faultline, and Green Flash (some of which will be pouring ciders as well as beers). Hungry? Check out vendors like The Jerky Hut, Girl Friday Zeppole, Armadillo Willy's Barbecue, and Santa Clara's Bourbon Steak.

If you get a little stuffed, you can also tackle the giant Jenga, bedazzle your epidermis with some bacon- and beer-themed (temporary) tattoos, and go bananas on the bungee run. If you really think you're tough, there's also a bacon-eating contest — the winner of which will probably be a bacon fiend of such magnitude that he or she hopes the prize is more bacon. Slightly less zealous but still-enthusiastic bacon eaters can also vote for their favorite bacon-infused dish at the People's Choice Booth.

With afternoon and evening sessions — lasting from 1-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., respectively — there's space aplenty for everyone to have a blast. If you go the extra mile and get a V.I.P. ticket, you earn the right to walk in an hour early and to set foot on the same field where the Broncos beat the Panthers only weeks before. (But everybody gets a branded glass to take back.) And best of all, this is all for a good cause, benefiting food pantries and other organizations that combat hunger. It's always good to know you've overindulged for a good cause.

The Bacon and Beer Classic, Saturday, Feb. 27, 1-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., $79-$125, at Levi's Stadium.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
