There is no shortage of ramen in the city. With recent chain expansions like Orenchi Beyond and Ramen Yamadaya alongside San Francisco’s own favorites, there’s definitely something for everyone. Despite the many options, it’s difficult to find a ramen house that caters to the ramen purist while still offering all of the traditional broth flavors. You typically either get only tonkotsu variations, or a menu with no tonkotsu at all — not awesome if you need to cater to all ramen preferences. The answer is finally here: look no further than
Coco’s Ramen, a little gem in Bernal Heights where there is something for everyone.

The ramen menu is pretty classic. First, pick your broth: seafood, tonkotsu, miso, shoyu, shio, veggie, or curry. Then, pick your seasoning: garlic, no garlic, or black garlic. Like it spicy? Select from mild, medium, hot (or none at all). And lastly, your pork: chashu or belly? It’s like choose-your-own-adventure ramen! All bowls include nori, soft-boiled soy sauce egg, bean sprouts and green onions. Also noteworthy is that all of these options are included in your order, no upcharge on the standard toppings.
Not to be missed are the non-ramen items as well. Order the delicious house chicken wings, which give all other chicken wings a run for their money. The wings are marinated and seasoned almost past the point of being seasoned (therefore delicious), lightly coated in batter and fried to golden brown deliciousness. The most special feature is the presentation; pulled mostly off the bone and served as a “lollipop,” these wings are so easy and fun to eat. The bacon-wrapped mochi and miso eggplant are also great ways to start the meal.
Regardless of your ramen inclination, Coco’s Ramen will not disappoint. No matter which option you select in the "choose your own ramen adventure," the story will end the same: delicious.
