With its spiffy new sound system, Oakland's Oliveto hopes to become much more than a restaurant.
Once you invest an undisclosed amount on a
Meyer Sound system that allows you to control the acoustical settings of your restaurant with an ipad, it’s only natural that you utilize the space in other ways than just serving food, right?
At least that’s the reasoning of Oliveto’s owners Bob and Maggie Klein, who announced the start of something called “Oliveto Commons” beginning in March.
The 28-year-old Oakland restaurant – practically a Rockridge landmark by now – has always been a local leader in the sustainability movement, and with its new acoustical abilities, it will now be able to bring people together who share a passion about their food and where it's sourced.
