La Cocina
is hosting a very delicious fundraiser this Friday in which the kitchen incubator’s program participants will throw down and dish out their best versions of mole alongside high-profile local chefs. Mole, which is a complex and delicious sauce in Mexican cuisine that varies by region, typically contains a large number of ingredients that are heavy on chilies and is often accented with dark Mexican chocolate.

Expect classic renditions from La Cocina’s El Huarache Loco, El Pipila (who does a green mole heavy on mint and cumin that tastes like an Indian chutney), and Sal De Vida (winner of last year’s mole competition at the Mission Cultural Center). There will be more eclectic versions of mole from Nopalito, Charles Phan’s South, Tracy Des Jardins’s Arguello, and Kin Khao, which is doing a “Thai Massaman Mole” mashup.

The night is a kickoff to the rest of the weekend's El Mercado SF and month-long pop-up shop at Ghirardelli Square, which features small-batch foodstuffs and provisions from local food businesses like granola from Nana Joe’s, sweets from Kika’s Treats, and alfajores from Sabores Del Sur.

Tickets to Friday's "O, Mole Night" can be procured here, and the last day of the holiday pop-up is the 24th.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
