Pop-Up Planner: Fried Chicken Galore, Sustainable French, Secret Indian, Aug. 12-18

La Cocina Friday Night Friend Chicken Family Meal

When: Friday, Aug. 15, 6-10 p.m.
Where: SOMA StrEat Food Park, 428, 11th St.
Cost: $50-$125
The rundown: Before Saturday's Street Food Festival, pre-game with loads of different versions of fried chicken partnered with an open bar (depending on the ticket you buy) provided by Calicraft Brewing Co., Campari, and Rye on the Road.

From karaage to vegan fried chicken, the lineup includes Seattle's Skillet Street Food, Austin's The Peached Tortilla, Alabama's Jim n' Nick's, Sao Paolo's Feirinha Gastronomica, and Bay Area favorites like Traci Des JardinsHopscotch, To Hyang, The Whole Breast, Abura-Ya, Starbelly, and soon-to-open Citizen Fox. Three Twins Ice Cream will be providing dessert. All proceeds go toward La Cocina.

Sous Beurre Kitchen
Friday, Aug. 15, 7-10 p.m.
Where: Naked Kitchen, 945 Valencia
Cost: $75
The rundown: Sustainable French from Michael Mauschbaugh pops up in the Mission only a few more times before Sous Beurre settles in on 24th Street for good. The five-course meal offers cauliflower velouté with pork paté, croutons, and chives; soft-boiled crayfish with caviar, pork belly, tomato consume, and gelée; headcheese with endive, stone fruit confiture, and picked grapes; slow cooked duck breast with Brussels sprouts, baby carrots, mint, red quinoa, and orange butter; and a peach and cherry mille-fuille served with white chocolate ice cream and hazelnuts.

When: Saturday, Aug. 16, 6 p.m.
Where: Stable Cafe, 2128 Folsom, 552-1199
Cost: $30 ticket includes six chips worth $5 each; $5 for every additional chip
The rundown: Hog & Rocks' Michael Lazar brings his traveling old fashioned bar to Stable Cafe for some old and new school fun. Tequila- and rum-based old fashioneds, oysters, flatbreads, and summer salads will also be available (most drinks: three chips, most food: one chip). 

The Naughty Hindu
When: Sunday, Aug. 17, 4 p.m. - 1 a.m.
Where: Dear Mom, 2700 16th St., 625-3362
Cost: A la carte
The rundown: Sudhir Popat comes back to Dear Mom with extended hours, T-shirts, and a secret menu slotted for the night owls after 10 p.m. Chutneys are in the works as well as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and meat options to please everyone.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
