San Francisco's Trick Dog and The Bon Vivants have been awarded the 2014 Spirited Award for the best American bar team at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans Saturday.

This is the first year for the award that celebrates teamwork in the bar scene.

The Trick Dog team also showed off their tricks while defeating five other American bars in the Bar Fight Club cocktail-making competition on Friday. The competition required the bartenders to concoct any sort of drink they could think of as long as they included Fords Gin, Caña Brava Rum, Aylesbury Duck Vodka, and Tequila Cabeza from Del Maguey Single Village Mezcals and The 86 Company. Winners were chosen by peers and patrons of the industry. Their competitors included LA's Harvard & Stone, Vegas' Herbs and Rye, Denver's Williams & Graham, New York City's The NoMad, and Boston's Backbar.

The Mission's Trick Dog was nominated for three additional awards including, best American cocktail bar, best American high volume cocktail bar, and world's best cocktail menu.

S.F. native and bartender at Tommy's Mexican Restaurant, Julio Bermejo, was awarded the Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award. Bermejo's also the Ambassador of Tequila to the U.S.A. from the Mexican National Tequila Chamber, according to Tales of the Cocktail.

The Cocktail Lovers have posted the full list of winners on their blog.
