Probably most food bloggers hope that, eventually, they'll land a book deal. San Francisco food blogger, Gabi Moskowitz of the Brokeass Gourmet, had been there, done that -- twice. But becoming the inspiration for a television sitcom? Beyond what most bloggers could even dream of.

It certainly never occurred to Moskowitz either. But somehow, along the way between writing her first cookbook, The BrokeAss Gourmet Cookbook, and her second, Pizza Dough: 100 Delicious, Unexpected Recipes, a Hollywood agent came calling. His wife was a fan of her blog, and he thought her persona could inspire a series.

Moskowitz began her blog at a time when a lot of her twentysomething friends were broke and still wanted to eat well within a budget. Shortly after her book came out, she went to Los Angeles to meet with production companies, and had the "weird and surreal" experience of pitching them a series about her life.

They liked what they saw. While the major networks all passed, Moskowitz later heard that ABC Family was interested in making a pilot. When she first heard, she says had to leave her job at a catering company to go outside and scream a bit.

The pilot was made, and then they let Moskowitz know they were going to produce a full series. Emily Osment of Hannah Montana fame plays a feisty young food blogger whose blog lands her a job working as a chef for a wealthy young tech entrepreneur, who also becomes her love interest (all of that part is fictional). Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical is a producer of the series.

Moskowitz has been serving as a creative consultant, and has been making frequent trips to Los Angeles. A few months ago, a group of writers from the show came to San Francisco to observe her, and she took them on a tour of her favorite food haunts.

Young and Hungry premiers Wednesday, June 25 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family (You may have seen ads for it plastered on MUNI around town).

Even though she's known about it for years now, and has been intimately involved with the process, Moskowitz says "I can hardly believe it's happening."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
