Until now, the main reason to visit Mission Chinese Food during lunch was the lack of a crazy wait. But now there's another more delicious reason: lunch specials.
For $10 you get a beautiful buttermilk- and koji-brined fried chicken sandwich nestled in between a soft Acme roll that's slathered with tonkatsu mayo on one side, burnt cara cara chili marmalade on the other, and topped with shredded savoy cabbage and pickled shallots. It's served with a side of bread and butter pickles to help you cut the richness with some tartness. But the cherry on top: you also have your choice of a Tsingtao, coke, or ginger beer. All. For. Ten. Dollars. Did I mention there's no line?
The chicken sandwich will be the lunch special for "a couple weeks" and will be rotated with other surprises. Rumor has it there may be a ramen in the near future.
Follow @streetfoodsf for all things delicious.
