Il Casaro Pizzeria and Mozzarella Bar is a new Neapolitan addition to the occasionally lackluster strip of touristy, overpriced Italian restaurants in San Francisco's vestigial Little Italy. It is also superb in nearly every way, my only regret being a stomach capacity too limited to sample the mozzarellas.

Recently, Cholita Linda finally opened its doors to Temescal after a very long wait building out a bright and festive space on what used to be a drab stretch on Telegraph. Until the brick and mortar came into being, Cholita Linda existed only as a popular mainstay at Off The Grid and the Temescal Farmers' Market on Sundays, a spot that quickly grew notorious for its Baja-style fish tacos.

Frying food in blazing hot oil almost always results in tastiness, and the tacos dorados at La Palma are no exception. Literally translating to "golden tacos," the tacos dorados are reminiscent of those at Jack-In-The-Box (don't judge -- they're deep-fried and delicious). The difference, of course, is that La Palma's tortillas are made in-house with fresh masa, and the tacos can be filled with your choice of real meat.
If you've been following the story about the so-called "glove law" that went into effect on Jan. 1, requiring food service personnel to wear disposable plastic gloves during their shifts for hygiene reasons, you'll know that a lot of food service personnel were not happy about it. Especially people like bartenders and sushi chefs, for whom style -- and the feel of the food they're making -- is paramount, and who protested that they already had a method in place to stay hygienic: washing their hands.
