Weekly Event Planner: Wine & Chocolate, Napa vs. Sonoma Throwdown, French Fine Dining Pop-Up, and More

Wine & Chocolate

When: Thursday, Feb. 27, 7-9 p.m.

Where: Dandelion Chocolate, 740 Valencia Street

Cost: $40-$50

The rundown: Chocolate alone is great. Chocolate with wine is even better. Guests will follow the journey from cacao to chocolate bar, stopping at five specific stages in the process to try each with a California wine. The event includes a tour of the chocolate factory, five generous wine pairings provided by the Sonoma/San Francisco based Wattle Creek Winery, and samples of Dandelion Chocolate. Napa vs. Sonoma Wine Showdown 2014

When: Thursday, Feb. 27, 6:30-9 p.m.

Where: General's Residence, 1 Fort Mason

Cost: $39-$69

The rundown: Napa or Sonoma? You decide which wine region reigns supreme at this tasting battle featuring 44 of the state's best wineries. Need we say more? Just grab a glass and go.

Mangez Dinner Party

When: Friday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m.

Where: Naked Kitchen, 945 Valencia

Cost: $65-$95

The rundown: You don't need to understand French to enjoy this communal fine dining dinner party. Chefs Peter Villegas and Thomas Thong, whose combined cooking pedigree include stints at Slanted Door, La Folie, and Napa Valley Grille, will prepare a six-course menu with dishes like beef tendon cracklings with charred onion dip, sea bass with uni and squid, and lamb with miso eggplant and sunchoke. Sommelier Andrew Merritt, formerly of Saison and Michael Mina, will create the wine and cocktail pairings for the event. Grab a seat at the table.

TEDxManhattan: Changing the Way We Eat Viewing Party

When: Saturday, March 1, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Where: Mezzanine Conference Room, Ferry Building

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
