Self-proclaimed Mayor of Flavortown Guy Fieri has just announced a new line of coffee flavors, and boy they sound ... pretty disgusting, to be honest. But their descriptions, spotted by Paolo at Inside Scoop, are amazing. Some day soon, if you have a Keurig-compatible coffee maker, you will be able to enjoy eight flavors of F-Cups (as I imagine Fieri calls K-Cups). But for now, and for forever, you can enjoy the oh-so-Guy descriptors of the mostly saccharine flavors.
As we reported last week, KitTea Café will be opening in San Francisco shortly, providing an "oasis" for humans and cats alike. Today, we learned that another cat café, Cat Town, will be opening in Oakland in the next few months. Like the name suggests, cat cafés are cafés for both humans and cats to enjoy. Although this description conjures up an image of rotund cat ladies draped in scarves and fur, perched on cafe stools whilst drinking coffee and talking aloud to their pets, SFist reported that the "goal is to provide homeless cats a place to call home."
Since the iconic Red Vic Movie House closed nearly three years ago, the city has been anxiously awaiting to see what's in store for the historic space. Finally, Jack and Betsey Rix, two of the original founders, are ready to debut their new concept to the public next week.
Second Act Marketplace and Events is breathing life back into the landmark movie house by celebrating the relationship with the community that the Red Vic was so strongly known for. Second Act will bring people together to eat and to shop for locally produced goods or for artistic events.
It's Saturday night, and the craving for Mexican food hits you. But this is no Mission burrito type of craving. You want to sit down and languidly enjoy a margarita (or two); you want knowledgeable service and food that won't sit in your stomach like a brick all night ... you want Nopalito.
There are two more openings to report from the rapidly growing dining destination of Burlingame. You'll find casual, comfortable dining from early morning until 11 p.m. at the Day & Night All American Grill, located across the street from the Hyatt near San Francisco International Airport. Inside is an upscale diner setting with several booths, ceiling fans and sunshine-yellow walls. Mornings commence with waffles, various omelets, and a complete English breakfast (grilled tomato included). Lunch and dinner present an ensemble of salads, soups and sandwiches including a classic Monte Carlo. Several pizza, pasta and hamburger choices are also available, most priced below $20. The signature Americana pizza includes 11 types of vegetables and five meats. 1310 Old Bayshore Highway, Burlingame; (650) 425-3037.
