In the ongoing saga of the activists currently occupying the former Hayes Valley Farm on Laguna between Oak and Fell, SFPD has confirmed that it has served the members of the encampment a notice to vacate the premises. The occupiers tweeted a photograph of the announcement on June 6 (@LiberateLand), which was quickly picked up by neighborhood blog Hayeswire.

The grounds of the eviction is the group's trespassing on private property, a misdemeanor, says Gordon Shyy, an SFPD public information officer. If the occupiers of the space, which they have rechristened "Gezi Gardens" in solidarity with the protests in Turkey, don't vacate the premises, they could be subject to arrest.

Get Your Grind On at Coffee Bar Next Thursday

Next Friday, both the Bay Area Coffee Community and Caffeine Crawl will descend on Coffee Bar's Mission location in one glorious, highly fueled, and delicious party. And it's open to the public. What does that look like? The BACC -- a local organization devoted to building community around coffee -- is putting on the finale of its six-month latté art competition series. If you've never seen a latté art competition, picture something with Top Chef suspense and the theatricality of a dog show, invariably ending like the final scene of the Karate Kid. Picture your morning barista making your cappuccino like their life depends on it. It's blood, sweat, tears, and lattes.

Peninsula Dining Update: Half Moon Bay Restaurants Showcase Land and Sea

Posted By on Fri, Jun 7, 2013 at 12:35 PM

Consider it Navio 2.0. After a yearlong, million dollar remodel, The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay's dining room Navio is ready for the summer season, complete with a sparkling new coastal theme. Chef Sean Eastwood returns with a seafood-focused menu, including fennel pollen-crusted local petrale sole and grilled Alaskan King salmon in a curry leek fondue. A new wood-fired oven turns out flatbreads and charred baby octopus. Entrées average in the low $30s and appetizers top out around $22. The dining room reflects the marine motif and is dominated by unobstructed panoramas of the restaurant's inspiration, the ocean. 1 Miramontes Point Rd., Half Moon Bay, 650-712-7040.

Drink of the Week: Enjoying The Rebound Fling at Ice Cream Bar

The Rebound Fling--it's a total lactart - LOU BUSTAMANTE

  • The Rebound Fling--it's a total lactart

When a prescription to "drown your sorrows" is issued by your friends to numb the pain and heartache caused by the conclusion of wonderfully tumultuous spring fling, it'll most likely include either ice cream or beer. We personally prefer a rebound, especially when it comes with beer and ice cream at the same time.

At Ice Cream Bar, the Cole Valley old time soda fountain and ice cream emporium, you can do all of those at once, like in the deliciously sassy The Rebound Fling ($11, Speakeasy Payback Porter, morello cherry ice cream, sour cherry syrup, lactart).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
