  • Happy Meatless Monday! Your food porn for the day comes directly from the kitchen of my childhood home. My dear dad always makes sure he has plenty of veggie soup for Meatless Monday and this week he made potato-leek soup. He made this recipe and added rosemary and thyme (thyme is totally under-appreciated in my opinion). It was delicious!

  • The big news this week was that Alex Jamieson, author of Vegan Cooking for Dummies, fell off the vegan wagon. She has a very long, very boring post all about it. She mentions her meat "cravings" to which Colleen Patrick-Goudreau tweeted in response: "Craving: a convenient way of attributing scientific reasoning to an irrational emotional desire 4 pleasure to exonerate oneself from guilt." AND HOW!
  • Sorry guys, Scream Sorbet has shut down--at least for the time being. One vegan told me they use sugar made with bone-char anyway though. But I haven't confirmed that and it's not a hard thing to correct!
  • In the vegan music world, we have a new anthem I encourage you to embrace: "Chi Thang."

  • Remember I told you last week that Philadelphia's Vedge restaurant made it to GQ's list of the "most outstanding restaurants of 2013"? Well I found this tweet from Vedge about the GQ author which I have to share: "true story ..the first words out of Alan Richmans mouth on the phone w/ me 'I fucking hate vegan restaurants, how do you do what you do?'" What a charmer!
  • In other Vedge news, they have a cookbook coming out soon and we have a preview recipe over at Vegansaurus. Looks promising!
  • The list you've been waiting for all year is finally here! Check out the PPK 100 for 2012. The lovely SF Weekly contributor Laura Beck helped put it together so you know it's the bees knees.
  • In science and environmental news, a new study found that vegans cause 41.7% fewer greenhouse gas emissions and vegetarians cause 27.8% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than non-vegetarians. OMG WE ARE THE BEST.
  • In conclusion, let's all make vegan lasagna with the Vegan Black Metal Chef!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
