Butchers and Beers Celebrates Beer Week, America

Sleep late on Saturday, then grab a quick BART ride to Oakland. There have been many events from legendary San Diego brewers throughout the week, but Beer Revolution wants to introduce you to some of Los Angeles' best:

I Love LA! SoCal Tap Takeover

Where: Beer Revolution, 464 3rd St., Oakland

When: Feb. 16, 12-11 p.m.

Cost: pay per drink

What: A stacked taplist from the likes of Beachwood, Eagle Rock, The Bruery, Noble, Telegraph, Ladyface, Golden Road, Kinetic, El Segundo, Smog City, Monkfish, Cismontane, Strand, and more. Expect many beers that have never been poured in the Bay Area.

From there, get back on BART and pop over to Drake's for a beer week wrap party:

Drake's Grill & Chill

Where: Drake's Barrel House, 1933 Davis St. Bldg 165, San Leandro

When: Feb. 16, 12-9 p.m.

Cost: pay per drink

What: If you missed some of the fantastic rarities that Drake's pulled out for Beer Week, never fear. Most of their specialties from the week will make a re-appearance at the Barrel House. Expect regular, strong, seasonal, and barrel-aged goodies. A food vendor will be on hand to help you sop up the booze.

On Sunday, there are great options throughout the Bay Area. If you're still jonesin' for one last fix of barrel-aged and sour goodness, head back to Beer Revolution:

Meet the Brewer with Firestone Walker

Where: Beer Revolution, 464 3rd St., Oakland

When: Feb. 17, 2-7 p.m.

Cost: pay per drink

What: Spend the afternoon lounging on the Beer Rev patio with David Walker and master brewer Matt Brynildson. Expect rich, bourbon barrel-aged brews and puckering sour treats alongside Firestone's world-class core lineup.

Hopefully, the last ten days of beer events have sparked the urge to make your own beer at home. Spend an afternoon tasting a bevy of home-brewed beers with the SF Homebrewer's Guild:

SFHG Homebrew Share

Where: Pi Bar, 1432 Valencia St. (at 25th)

When: Feb. 17, 12-3 p.m.

Cost: $15

What: Sample dozens of homebrewed beers (bring your own if you've got 'em!) and enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza and salad. Vote for the people's choice award and get inspired to brew your own creation.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
