SF Beer Week: Wednesday Event Roundup

It's SF Beer Week humpday! We understand if you're feeling a bit run down. A steady diet of beer can do that. Take it easy today with three events that offer unique, rare beers and don't require a BART ride away from the city.

SF Beer Week 2013 Guide to Cocktails

Butchers and Beers Celebrates Beer Week, America

First, some specialty brews and beer cocktails with one of Portland's finest breweries:

Beer and Cocktails Featuring Upright Brewing

Where: Alembic, 1725 Haight (at Cole)

When: Feb. 13, 4 10 p.m.

Cost: pay per drink

What: A selection of rarities to sample from the taps, or incorporated into cocktails. The beer lineup includes Apricot Seven (barrel aged saison with apricots), Spollen Angel Belgian tripel, Chocolate Stout, and Captain Beefheart, brewed with grilled beef hearts, bay leaf, and sea salt. No joke.

Next, a nostalgic romp through the Public House cellar:

Cellar to Remember

Where: Public House, 24 Willie Mays Plaza (at 3rd)

When: Feb. 13, 4-10 p.m.

Cost: pay per drink

What: A collection of cellared beers from the Giants' World Series winning years, 2010 and 2012. The first 60 guests to purchase a beer receive a free tour of AT&T park. Highlights include Firestone Parabola, Avery Meph Addict, Allagash Barrel-Aged Black, Ballast Point Sour Wench, and Stone Vertical Epic 10.10.10. with oak.

Lastly, a taste of the wild side of New Belgium brewing at La Trappe:

New Belgium's Woody Tart and Wild Night

Where: La Trappe, 800 Greenwich (at Columbus)

When: Feb. 13, 6 p.m.-12 a.m.

Cost: $5 admission includes a glass of blended cask beer. Tickets here

What: New Belgium's Jamie Mastin will be on hand, blending a cask of Cocoa Mole beer with Oscar Love sour ale. Other beer highlights include La Folie, Tart Lychee, Biere de Peche (soured Biere de Mars aged in Leopold's Peach Whiskey barrels), and Trip XV Dubbel with dandelions.
