Butchers & Beers Celebrates Beer Week, America

The Super Bowl is over, which means that we'll have to wait until July 4 for another holiday that celebrates the old-fashioned American values of red meat and cold beer -- but wait!

For Beer Week, Almanac joins 4505 Meats to throw the second annual Butchers & Beers event, a shindig devoted to all things meaty and malty. Next Friday, seven Bay Area brewers will be pouring unlimited tastes of their beers, alongside "porky deliciousness" from 4505 for dinner. Plus, the event will be held at St. Gregory's Church as a fundraiser for the Food Pantry, which means you can feel good about yourself even as you destroy your liver and arteries.

New Taste Market is Back, Just in Time for the Holidays

On the food side, 4505 serves a whole roasted pig, beer sausages, its signature hamburger, and barbecue in three different tents. New Taste Marketplace vendors -- including Nosh This, Desperation Bakehouse, and Marla Bakery -- provide desserts.

The brewery lineup, all pouring multiple beers: Almanac Beer Co., Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, Highwater Brewing, Drakes Brewing, Pacific Brewing Laboratory, Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, and Anchor Brewing.

Also, 4505's Ryan Farr demos a whole pig breakdown and butchery, followed by a silent auction of the resulting pork cuts for charity. Because why not.

When: Friday, Feb. 15, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: St Gregory's Church, 500 De Haro

Cost: $60 (includes all food and drink); tickets available on Kitchit. All proceeds donated to the Food Pantry.
