Omnivore World Tour Kicks Off Tomorrow

Posted By on Thu, Nov 8, 2012 at 3:05 PM

This weekend, for the very first time, the Omnivore World Tour will be pit-stopping in San Francisco. The program includes a slew of classes, cooking demos, and a mighty glamorous lineup of chef collaborations and dinners. The festival is a traveling showcase of the culinary world's young and innovative which, when in the Bay, will include the likes of Dominique Crenn (of Atelier Crenn, fresh off a second Michelin star), James Syhabout (Commis), and Jason Fox (Commonwealth), teaming up with international guest chefs for "Amazing Dinners" hosted by each local chef's restaurant.

In the Presidio's scenic Observation Post, a series of Master Classes will include Danny Bowien, Crenn, Roland Passot (La Folie), Joshua Skenes (Saison), as well as some out-of-town guests and local winemakers, who will share techniques and recipes with an audience of 100 in 40-minute installments. And, because San Francisco is the promised land of food trucks, Omnivore invited El Sur and Little Green Cyclo to hang out outside for bites between classes. On Saturday night, the Observation Post will play host to the dancy and delicious "Omnivorous Party," kicking off with aperitifs and a smattering of bites as the combined effort of the weekend's chefs. There will also be a kids' workshop in conjunction with the Edible Schoolyard. All events are ticketed, and room is limited -- but there are still tickets available for many events.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
