Tout Sweet opened on September 8 on the third floor of Macy's in Union Square, the brainchild of Top Chef Just Desserts Season 1 winner Yigit Pura and his longtime employers at Taste Catering.
Cook E. Monster knew she was on to something when the woman at the counter squealed in solidarity after selecting a couple of mudslide cookies. "These are great!" she said, little diamonds in her incisors sparkling.

It was certainly a good choice to quell a chocolate craving. This is a soft, drop cookie made with Valrhona dark chocolate and cocoa nibs. Inside, plump sour cherries give it a little juiciness (even though they're dried) and hint of tartness. The whole thing has a rather brownie-like consistency, though the nibs add crucial crunch to the top.
The mudslide is an efficient vehicle for indulgent chocolate delivery. Even though it only takes about three bites to finish, it's stil likely to be at least close to as satisfying as any of the larger chocolate items in the pastry case.
