Summer Ends on a Sweet Note at Mission Pie

In San Francisco, where layered clothing and boots are considered year-round wardrobe staples and the hot days are seemingly unpredictable, one may be better off looking to restaurant menus in order to record the passing of seasons than by looking at actual weather patterns. Though the end of summer is growing steadily closer, it's not too late to take advantage of seasonal berries, plums, and peaches, and there's no better way to celebrate the season than with pie.

Local favorite Mission Pie is dedicated to always using the freshest fruit available and they are currently offering not one but three varieties of peach pie along with their other flavors. This includes traditional peach, peach blackberry, and vegan peach raspberry. Fully equipped with the ripest, juiciest peaches available, the folks behind this quaint pie establishment have succeeded in giving each of these pies a unique flavor, showing San Francisco just how versatile the seemingly simple peach can be.

The true essence of the peach is best captured in a slice of traditional peach pie, which Mission Pie has given a sturdy, wholesome crust, lightly dusted in sugar, making an ideal home for the juicy fruit within. The peach blackberry uses the same crust as a base, but dusts a crumb topping over the mix of peaches and blackberries, which, when combined, create the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The most unique of all, however, is the vegan peach raspberry pie that combines the best elements of the other two into a pie that has a pleasant sweet and sour flavor and a sugary, granola crumb topping lightly blanketing the succulent fruit within.

The end of peach season comes just a few weeks away, in mid-September, so celebrate the passing of another summer with a juicy, fresh piece of peach pie today.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
