Yacht Rock: Summer Cocktails of the Farmers Market

Where: CUESA Kitchen at the Ferry Building (north end, near Gott's formerly Taylor's Refresher)

When: Weds., Aug. 29th, 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

Cost: $40 online via Eventbrite; 21 and over

The rundown: Summer may be winding down in the Bay Area in date only, but send off the sweetest produce season with some of the best farm-fresh cocktails made by San Francisco's finest bartenders. CUESA and the United States Bartenders' Guild are hosting another edition of their popular Farmer's Market Cocktail Happy Hour on Wednesday with a nautical theme, so expect to see some sailors, skippers, and Gilligans shaking up drinks. Wear your seafaring or maritime best to get a chance to take home the prize for best dressed.

Two full sized rum drinks by Christina Cabrera (Bourbon Steak) and Keli Rivers (Hotsy Totsy) will make you suspect that skipping Burning Man this year was a pretty good idea. The eleven smaller drink samples will convince you. Hors d'oeuvres sized bites at food stations will put a little wind in your sails with grub from 15 Romolo, Alioto's, Asian Box, Grand Café, and Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen.

The additional participating bartenders are Brian Means (Fifth Floor), Claire Sprouse (Rickhouse), Dion Jardine (Lolita), Edgar Tamayo (Azucar), Jared Anderson (15 Romolo), Josh Trabulsi (Burritt Room), Kimberly Roselle (Flora), Kristin Almy (Grand Cafe), Lucia Creed Gonzalez (Prizefighter), Taylor White (Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen), and Vita Simone (New Easy).

Drinks ho, mateys!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
