The Supper Clubs Are Here

Tis the season for Summer Suppers Clubs. In the last week, we've gotten two intriguing invitations to attend Summer Supper Series that seem worth considering for your summer semi-staycation weekend travel plans.

The first comes with an exploding deadline for the best deal:

Village Pub in Woodside, one of the tops spots on the Peninsula (they own Spruce in the city as well) and an easy exit off the 280, is kicking off a Summer Supper Series in July. Currently you can get a sweetheart deal on the meal through Gilt City for SF for $65, but the offer expires Wednesday, lobster and all. Thereafter you'll pay the restaurant rate, whatever it happens to be. Here are the details:

• Every summer Sunday in July, Chef Dmitry Elperin will offer a special tasting menu starting with a surprise amuse bouche.

• The first course will feature a butter-poached lobster lasagna with sweetbreads and white corn.

• The demi course is at the whim of Chef Elperin and that week's market-fresh ingredients.

• Seared duck breast arrives as the entree, served with sautéed escarole and Sauternes-poached peaches.

• End with crêpes flambé with roasted cherries and crème fraîche ice cream.

If you're more likely to head north than south, and wine country is more your style, Copain Wines' Supper Club Series, is bringing in award-winning chefs from around the country and, no surprise, pairing their preparations with Copain wines. If you haven't had a chance to dine with Corey Lee at benu, Copain might be your door in. Here's the lineup.

•July 14, 2012. Guest Chef: Ken Tominaga, chef and owner of Hana Japanese Restaurant, Sonoma; partner at PABU, Baltimore. Guest Sommelier: Stuart Morris, sake sommelier of Hana Japanese Restaurant, Sonoma.

•September 2, 2012. Guest Chef: Corey Lee, chef and owner of Benu, San Francisco. Guest Sommelier: Yoon Ha, dining room and beverage director of Benu, San Francisco

•September 30, 2012. Guest Chef: Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, chef and co-owner of Frasca, Boulder. Guest Sommelier: Bobby Stuckey, wine director and co-owner of Frasca, Boulder

•December 14, 2012. Guest Chef: David Chang, chef and owner of Momofuku, New York City. Guest Sommeliers: Robert Bohr, founder of Grand Cru Wine Consulting, New York City; and wife, Jordan Salcito, wine director of Crown Restaurant, New York City
