The Week in Cocktails: Doing Good, Tequila, Pride, and Bourbon

With the weather in a teasingly typical San Francisco pattern, plus vacations and visitors and Pride month, there's a lot to do this week. Here's our pick's for cocktail focused events around town.

Le Mixeur Sharky

When: Tues., June 19th

The rundown: Kicking off the week with a fundraiser for the Special Place Foundation, a non-profit farm that helps individuals with autism and other disabilities by providing both housing and teaching vocational skills growing and cultivating organic crops. Visit one of the seven participating bars, and enjoy cocktails like the Solerno Corpse Reviver ($10, Beefeater Gin, Lillet, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, lemon, St. George Absinthe rinse) at Hog & Rocks, Sharky's Old Chum ($10, Espolon Blanco Tequila, orange, Plymouth Sloe Gin, Lillet Rose) at Fifth Floor, and the El Salinger Sour ($8, Espolon Blanco Tequila, lime, grapefruit, agave, Campari) at Jasper's Corner Tap. Organized by Left Coast Libations author Ted Munat to honor his son Sharky, who is diagnosed with autism, hopes to make this annual event. All proceeds go directly to the charity.

Vegetarian Tequila Dinner with Pueblo Viejo

Where: Tres, 130 Townsend (at Second St.), 227-0500

When: Thurs., June 21st, 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.


Cost: $75.00 (plus tax and service charge) for five courses with tequila pairings, call to reserve

The rundown: Join one of the few women who own and run their own tequila companies, Señora Carmen Villareal for a vegetarian meal prepared by Constanza Ortiz of Maite, known for her Latin American cooking with European and Asian flair. Villareal's full line of tequilas will be served at the dinner: blanco, reposado, añejo, Carmessi Reposado, PV Orgullo Añejo, San Matias Gran Reserva Extra Añejo, and Rey Sol Extra Añejo.

Bourbon & Banter

Where: St. George Spirits, 2601 Monarch (at Midway) Alameda, 510-864-0635

When: Fri., June. 22nd, 8 p.m.


Cost: $125, tickets available online, with a portion of the ticket price tax deductable

The rundown: Drink bourbon and cocktails like the Strawberry Mint Misdemeanor (Breaking & Entering Bourbon, fresh strawberries, absinthe, mint, lime, sugar) at a live taping of Aisha Tyler's (aka Lana Kane on Archer) hit podcast "Girl on Guy" with author Chuck Klosterman. This fundraising event for ScholarMatch, an organization helping young people afford college with scholarships. Sorry, no ISIS agent discount.

San Francisco Pride Soirée

Where: Postrio, 545 Post (at Mason), 776-7825

When: Fri., June. 22nd, 8 p.m.
- 12 a.m.

Cost: $35, tickets available online

The rundown: Join dot429, an origination for LGBT professionals, to celebrate Pride with snacks, X-Rated Fusion Liqueur Snow Cones, Skyy Dragon Cosmos, and Espolon Margaritas while DJ P-Play spins club hits. All proceeds from the event benefit Maitri, a non-profit providing services for people living with AIDS.
