As sweet cities go, San Francisco is
definitely up there with the best of them, thanks to bakeries across
the city catering to our every sugary whim. We went in search of the
greatest dessert pies in the city and found there were more than
plenty to choose from. Here are our ten favorites.
10. Miz Lynn's Pies
You can find Miz Lynn's pies at farmers markets around the city, as well as at the Harvest Ranch market on 8th and Howard. And when you pick them up, prepare for surprises -- the spice apple cranberry pie tastes more like lemon than anything else, but its super zesty, stunningly sweet taste is a thrill for your taste buds. Similarly, the sweet potato pie is so much like pumpkin it could've fooled us in a taste test. Miz Lynn's would benefit from using more fresh fruit, but the pies are yummy nonetheless.
8. Yvonne's Southern Sweets
5128 Third Street
Hunter's Point might not be the first place you think of when you're wanting something sweet, but Yvonne's little bakery offers up mouth-watering slices of down home Southern comfort. The perfect crust on her peach cobbler alone makes the journey worthwhile, but the sweet potato pie is a delight as well. (Side note: we know this is a pie list, but we'd recommend trying a slice of the dense and fluffy 7-Up cake while you're in there -- it's divine.)
