Haighteration discovered CuCo's Restaurant was slated to shut before the end of February, due to a landlord eviction; but as of now, the beloved neighborhood restaurant remains open. SF Weekly stopped by over the weekend and discovered the restaurant had not received an eviction-date notice. Today an employee confirmed they are open -- but noted nothing is definite about the future of the restaurant. So those plantain burritos could still disappear at any moment.
Gordon Biersch's team let us know they're readying to close their Hills Brothers building location. The brewery and restaurant will move out of the large space at 2 Harrison (at Embarcadero) when their lease expires on April 28. But that doesn't mean they're leaving the City -- they're looking for a new spot in S.F.
Last month we mentioned, via the Richmond Blog SF, that Pho Clement (now Good Noodle) was court ordered to pay overtime wages to former employees. Now SF Appeal and Bay City News report Big Lantern joins the list. The post also notes a third restaurant that was recently ordered to issue back-overtime pay as well: Blue Plate.
There's a new restaurant moving into the Mission: Uptown Almanac discovers Silverstone Coffee will be serving coffee out of the shuttered Carlos Club space. No word yet on an opening date -- or why they crossed-out breakfast and lunch on their window signage. (We're assuming they'll have some food.)
Also, Eater SF confirms the Indian restaurant, Gajalee, first mentioned by Grub Street, opened over the weekend (525 Valencia at 16th St.).
