Celebrating Valentine's Day on February 14th is sooooo 2011. You know what's really sexy? The element of surprise. Get the jump on your significant other by planning an early surprise outing, and you may even get jumped at the end of the night. Turn up the smooth jazz, because Cupid's arrow is about to land a day early.

Besides Tom Selleck enjoying a sandwich by a waterfall, there's nothing sexier than chocolate. Indulge your date with this beer and chocolate pairing event:

Where: Boothby Center for the Beverage Arts, 1161 Mission St. (at 8th St.)

When: Monday, February 13th, 5pm-7pm

Cost: $65

What: Join Rich Higgins, Master Cicerone and brewer at Social Kitchen and Brewery, as he teaches you how to evaluate a beer and pair it with chocolate. There will be lots of samples, and perhaps some snuggling.

Your date isn't into chocolate? Quick, cue the fondue and French beer:

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
