• Just read this piece about Cory Booker and tell me that you don't want to rip his clothes off and then shake his hand because this man is AWESOME and ADORABLE. As Meave says, he gets it. He totally does! Love him like I love cake!

• Another day, another meat recall. This time, 377,000 pounds of E. coli-contaminated dead cow. In related news, PLEASE STOP EATING DEAD COWS PLEASE. All of the animals, including me, will give you so many hugs. I hate touching other people, so one hug from me is basically like having sexual relations with a normal. Enjoy!

Irvine passed legislation that bans the sales of cats and dogs, rodeos, and circuses. IRVINE, home to the #1 UC back-up school, is beating San Francisco, home to SAINT FRANCIS, THE PATRON SAINT OF ANIMALS, in animal protection. A pox on our house!

• Tonight is S.F. Vegan Happy Hour! It's a potluck so bring something fancy or else you'll be totally embarrassed. Or a bag of nuts. Everyone loves nuts!

Why do we eat pigs and throw birthday parties for our dogs? They're equally adorable and smart (actually, I'd argue that pigs are cuter and smarter), so why is it cool to buy expensive collars off Etsy for one and turn the other into meals? Is it just because bacon tastes too damn good to resist? It can't be that, because I've tasted bacon and while it's good, I can think of a hundred vegan foods that taste better. Like many other animals, humans don't need to eat meat to survive, and so many of us have the ethical opportunity to live in a much less harmful way. So why don't all of us (who can)? I'm genuinely curious where the disconnect is, because I don't totally get it. I get being ignorant about the conditions that animals are raised and killed in, but I don't get when you KNOW and you still contribute to it. Is there someone out there who can explain it to me? Because if you can, I will totally take you out for a vegan milkshake and ALSO give you a hug. If you knew how much I hate to part with money combined with how much I hate physical contact, you would know that's the Laura equivalent of burning down my house and then cutting out my own eyeballs.

LESLIE HALL IS VEGAN!! And she wrote a song about it! Midwest Lady Cyclone, I love you.

• God DAMN that Isa Chandra Moskowitz and her recipe brilliance! So much talent and cuteness in one package, IT IS NOT FAIR. At least she shares the goods with us, so that we may partake in Scalloped Potatoes with Eggplant Bacon and be the happiest. Also, you should know, she and fellow adorable genius, Terry Hope Romero, have a new pie cookbook out and it looks unsane. It's pie season, bitches, so start your ovens and let's do the damn thing. Get up on this!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
