2. Gather, 2200 Oxford, Berkeley, 510-809-0400.

Gather is so Berkeley, it's almost painful. It's all "local-this" and "sustainable-that", and I kinda love it. A wide variety of options for vegans and meat-eaters alike, and a truly excellent drink menu. Sometimes all you need to eat is a cocktail, you know? The one dish that garners consistently excellent reviews from everyone ever, is the Vegan Charcuterie Plate. It's just a bunch of vegetables sliced, diced, julienned, and combined to create a taste sensation heretofore unknown. Mushroom pâté, eggplant "brandade," and carpaccio of watermelon radish and turnip. I don't understand a word I just typed but damn, is it tasty.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
