What: Wine & Spirits Magazine's Eighth Annual Top 100 Wines Tasting Event

Where: City View at Metreon, 101 4th St.

When: Wed., October 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Cost: $105

The rundown: There are lots of different kinds of lushes social drinkers but perhaps my most favorite are the winos. They are just so special. Usually waiting until the work day is over, they kick off their pumps and get loose over a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau. The evening has come to an end when they stare deep into your eyes and force you into a heart-to-heart about something uncomfortable. But they are mostly tons of fun, know a lot about what they're drinking, and love sharing their vino knowledge. That's why Wine & Spirits magazine's Top 100 Tasting is gonna be such a good time.

The magazine assembles their favorite wines and winemakers from across the globe, and the event is the perfect opportunity to sample the rare, unusual, and superb. Add to that a lineup of notable eats from Jasper's, Boxing Room, Txoko, Dosa, Alexander's Steakhouse, Piccino, Leopold's, Hog Island Oysters, Fra'mani Charcuterie, Socola Chocolates, Kika' Treats, and Barefoot Coffee. Hot damn!

So you'll be drunk and full, surrounded by convivial lushes social drinkers, soaking up all their merriment and good cheer. Just remember, when the clock strikes 8:30 p.m., get the hell outta there before you're forced to hear about someone's lazy left Fallopian tube.

Tickets available online.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
