Two New Restaurants: Canela and Grill House Mediterranean, and Delaney's New Name

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

New places to eat and drink: Eater SF shares that Canela, a Spanish-style bistro in the Castro, opened two days ago (2272 Market at Sanchez). The restaurant is focusing on organic and locally-source ingredients, with the menu featuring 11 tapas all under $10 (also available as larger plates), and a California and Spanish-focused wine list.

We're not sure what's behind the name choice, but Inside Scoop reports the Marina crowd will now show up at Campus, which replaces the popular Delaney's (2241 Chestnut at Pierce). Besides a good scrubbing down of the interior and a new awning, the bar remains unchanged.

Inside Scoop also shares that Grill House Mediterranean, a Turkish restaurant that's already popular with Chowhounds, is now open (533 Jones at Geary).

Things to look forward to: Eater SF shares that the Square Meal-Batter Bakery combo slated for Polk is now aiming to open by November, and will feature a small, all-day café where diners can get a savory meal and sweet treat. We're particularly excited that Batter Bakery's Jen Musty is going to use the brick-and-mortar to expand her sweet selections (think: more pie and ice cream), and that she and Square Meal's Alison Mountford are planning to do brunch and get a liquor license.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
