Free Gluten-Free Cookbook for Three Lucky Readers!

Posted By on Thu, Sep 22, 2011 at 2:55 PM

Karen Morgan, author of "Blackbird Bakery Gluten-Free: 75 Recipes for Irresistible Gluten-Free Desserts and Pastries," is in town Friday for a book-signing event.

SFoodie asked her to sign three of those books for our readers and mail them to you for free. We ask a lot, but only on your behalf. And you know what? She said "OK."

So here's a quickie contest: Tell us, in 50 words or less, why you should win. Do you fend off fierce cravings for cupcakes daily? Are you tired of celebrating your birthday with rice pudding and ice cream?

Whether you've got celiac sprue or are just living the gluten-free life, you can convene with your fellow bread-shunners at Morgan's two events this weekend:

On Friday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m., Morgan will appear at the Whole Foods Market on Potrero Hill. She'll sign books and take customers through the store, pointing out tips on gluten-free foods. From 5-7 p.m., she'll sign copies of her book, which you can buy (if you didn't win one already.)

On Saturday, Sept. 24 from 3-4 p.m., Morgan will sign copies again at Omnivore Books.

We'll end our contest at noon tomorrow so that you have time to go buy the book if you don't win. Because time is short, we'll probably announce the winners in the comments by 2 p.m.; get in touch with me afterward to verify.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
