Some people call money "bread" or "cheddar," but you can do better than a cheese sandwich at the Taste of Microfinance.
Opportunity Fund claims be the largest microlender in the Bay Area. Koji Kanematsu and Kan Hasegawa received $10,000 from Opportunity Fund to get their poorly spelled Onigilly (Japanese rice balls are onigiri) operation going.
Unfortunately you won't be able to sample creations from any up-and-coming vendors seeking funding. But you can taste plenty of stuff from people who are already licensed to dish, along with unlimited Skyy vodka cocktails and Lagunitas beer.
The menu:
Alicia's Tamales Los Mayas: Pork and cheese tamale, chicken and green salsa tamale, rajas and cheese tamale
Eji's Ethiopian: Mini injera wraps with red lentils
Onigilly: Spicy shrimp with tobiko and spicy aioli, Japanese eggplant marinated in house dressing
Love & Hummus: Hummus on pita and cucumbers
El Buen Comer: Tostaditas con tinga de pollo, tostaditas con ensalada de nopales
La Luna Cupcakes: Mars red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, vanilla cupcake with fresh strawberry swirl, asteroid cookies & cream
