How can you not order a drink that has the word feisty in it? 1300 on Fillmore threw down an irresistible semantic challenge, earning this week's honors with a concoction of Grey Goose L'Orange vodka, orange and cranberry juices, and the remnants of a jalapeño slice. Our grandmother's favorite daily beverage was equal parts orange and cranberry, and that combination always takes us right back into her kitchen, but her drink didn't give us warm eyeballs. 1300's list of 20 specialty cocktails includes twists on Southern staples like the hurricane and the mojito, the latter jazzed up here with a tart dash of pomegranate liqueur, but this is the cocktail that best mirrors the fiery and comforting elements of the restaurant's best Louisiana-kissed dishes. Though there's no actual blood orange in this mix, the pepper does elevate the circulation and punctuate the buzz. 1300 on Fillmore 1300 Fillmore (at Eddy), 771-7100

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
